Protecting Image Rights
In Costa Rica, image rights are protected by the Political Constitution, the Civil Code, the Copyright and Related Rights Law, and the Law on the Protection of Individuals Regarding the Processing of Their Personal Data. These regulations establish that a person’s image cannot be used for commercial, advertising, or dissemination purposes without their express consent, except in exceptional cases provided by law.
The protection of the right to one’s own image is a highly relevant issue, as its improper use can affect a person’s privacy, reputation, and dignity. At our Firm, we have the necessary legal expertise and knowledge to advise our clients on the protection of their image in various contexts, particularly in the commercial sphere.
Our goal is to ensure that any use of a person’s image complies with current legislation, thereby safeguarding their rights and interests.
